Initially I wasn’t sure about this site, but after a 4 night stay I grew to like it. It’s a bit like an aire in some respects, lots of gravel/concrete and generally small pitches (max 7m) with little shade or privacy. However, it’s got everything you need and it’s well located for the local railway station or level walk into Cabanas de Tavira with a lovely beach beyond the lagoon. It has a selection of shops/bars/restaurants. On site there’s a restaurant and mini-market, even an ATM. Security is good. Sanitation blocks are good and facilities plentiful - great showers. The swimming pool is large and a nice facility complete with sun loungers. Staff speak good English and are very friendly. The 16A electric system is a big improvement on most Portugese sites. The only disappointment was the WiFi, for the most part it was completely useless. If you’re staying at the weekend you might want to avoid pitching too close to the picnic area & sports/playground. It seems to be a focus for large groups who can make a lot of noise. Barking dogs were also a bit of a nuisance at times. The ground is very firm so not easy to pitch your awning - you’ll probably need rock pegs.
Very helpful reception staff. Most of the pitches were gravel with very little privacy between them and not much shade. There were a few long term residents but not horded like some campsites. We were able to choose our own pitch and for 18 euros a night we had a large pitch which could have been 2 smaller ones and as a large motorhome we would then have parked parallel to the road. We needed heavy duty pegs to fix the groundsheet.
Toilets and showers were clean and cleaned regularly. The swimming pool was open but not heated, although it was just about warm enough to swim briskly.
The camp restaurant served a tasty monkfish and rice stew that was freshly cooked and very hot. Along the promenade in Cabanos there were lots of bars and restaurants and a couple of small supermarkets only 1 km from the site.
A very quiet site, with few British people but that could have been down to the uncertainty about Brexit.
Great well maintained site, friendly, helpful staff. Fresh bread every day, delicious
Only site on our travels through France and Spain, so far, with no loo paper........kept forgetting to take our own each time
Found the site rather depressing. Lots of grey concrete and dust, with an abandoned unit (like a bus) just up the road. Lots of long stay people, with scruffy tarpaulins over their units. A bit like a poor UK travelllers site. Pitches were small front to back (barely 6m) but we had a double pitch which was OK for width. The trees were pleasant but quite few, offering little shade. Pitches were very very hard, so a very heavy hammer and heavy duty steel pegs necessary which were damaged trying to get them out of the ground again. Some people used hammer drills. There are no dividers on pitches, just a yellow mark to denote the edge of each pitch. This meant there were no restrictions on how close units could be to each other and some were very close together. At one point, we had a young couple with an old Coca Cola van parked half a metre from us and they were cooking inside their van which was a huge fire hazard. There was only one grey water emptying point on the whole site, the motor home service point, very inconvenient. There was plenty of hot water in the showers; the facilities were old and tired, but cleaned regularly. The site was quiet and the swimming pool looked good although we did not use it. There was a children\'s play area, but it was next to a repulsive green slimy pool with ducks on it. I think it was supposed to be a decorative feature. There were also biting flies, but a mosquito coil helped.
The younger staff were good, the older ones less helpful and not so good. The restaurant was very good, nice staff and good well-priced food. The camp supermarket was full of empty shelves and no stock. Access to the site is easy enough through go d security, but beware of the tree by the road outside, the roots make a big hump in the road. Cabanas is pleasant, with a useful Spar supermarket, Taviras is pretty and worth exploring. The Gran Plaza in Tavira is a good shopping mall, with an excellent underground car park and a very large Continente supermarket. The railway station is just outside the campsite, but the trains seem very slow. The A22 is very convenient, but it is a toll road.
I would not stay here again, didn\'t really like it at all, but it\'s convenient enough.
Stayed on this site for 5 weeks, excellent site within easy access of train station, 20mins walk to beach and lovely Cabanas. Site is well kept, toilets are cleaned twice a day, restaurant on site is great value for money, pool looks lovely although we didn’t use it, reception staff are very helpful, shop on site is good and not too expensive, only negative is the English man who hangs around the shop every morning making inappropriate comments to all the customers, I think he lives on the site. All in all a great site to spend the winter months.
We thought the staff were surly and unhelpful. When at 8:05am I asked for information on bus timetable, the receptionist told me she was too busy opening the reception to help. We had some problems understanding how to use the washing machine, asked for help and waited for 30 mins for someone to come - they still didn't come and we had to go back to reception again. Nice pitch but rubbish staff - don't go if you can find somewhere else
stayed may 2017 for 5 nights brilliant location to walk to golf, train to all along the algarve just up the road and bus to tavira just along the road. took small ferry to beach excellent service and lovely bars and restaurants easy to walk too. will definitely come back when in algarve again. staff were very helpful and friendly. thank you .
Regimented packed earth pitches (no hedges). Little shade Would be very cramped on a single pitch, but we had a double pitch at a very reasonable price. Excellent hot water in toilets & washing up. Sanitary facilities very clean except for bird dung on the walls. Fresh baked bread in market. Swimming pool looks very attractive. Helpful English speaking staff in reception.
Most of the larger serviced pitches are reserved for over winter's but pitch sizes adequate.on site restaurant very good. Cabanas is a 10 min bike ride away and Tavira about 40 mins along a path across the salt flats. Both have a good range of restaurants. Local train is just outside the site which takes you into Faro. Golf course just to the north of the site.
Busy site with many long-stay regulars. Pitch sizes quite tight, despite allocation of double pitch. No hedges separating adjacent pitches. Inconveniently few water points. No grass and little shade. Convenient for train station.
